MIAMI - Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte' Stallworth has begun serving a 30-day jail sentence for killing a pedestrian while driving drunk in Florida.
The 28-year-old player pleaded guilty yesterday to a DUI manslaughter charge for striking and killing a man in Miami Beach while driving drunk March 14. Stallworth also reached a confidential financial settlement with the victim's family.
Stallworth told a judge he will bear a burden for what happened for the rest of his life.
An NFL spokesman says the league is reviewing the matter for possible disciplinary action. The Browns also are evaluating the situation, saying they're "very conscious of the seriousness of the charges" to which Stallworth pleaded guilty.
